PR8 is a retro demake of Arkane Studio's Prey.

Set aboard the futuristic space station of Talos I, hostile lifeforms have broken containment and overrun the station. Scavenge resources, weapons, and ammo to fight back in tense top-down survival horror combat.

With state of the art 600 line CRT resolution, soak in the stunning pseudo 3d graphics and photorealistic* detailed environments of Talos I. Travel through a whole 2 levels filled with terrifying hide-and-seek gameplay and secrets around every corner. And experiment with the latest in 100% functional 2d physics technology.

Developer Comments:
PR8 was not initially intended to be a demake of Prey and instead be its own standalone experience. The initial concept was to simply take an entirely different engine than I traditionally work with, and push it to its limit. However, upon the Pompous Trash Jam starting, I thought blatantly stealing everything from some of my favorite games (Prey and Teleglitch) fit right with the theme of the jam.

For extra context, most of my work is done in unreal engine, while my favorite tool by far, it does come with plenty of easy solutions to common problems. With this jam I wanted to do something fresh and in a different style and perspective than I would normal do. Everything within the game is programmed entirely from scratch, no external libraries for physics, ai, mod support, level creation, etc. were used, everything was done with vanilla love2d.

Unfortunately, audio is one particular area I wish I had gotten to sooner. Implementing 3D directional audio by hand left significantly less time to flesh out the soundscapes of Talos I, In the event that this project is updated, this will be one of the first areas addressed.
